Pure teamed with non-profit healthcare provider Cherry Health to renovate a portion of the existing Southside Health Center.  The clinic provides both primary care and behavioral health services, focusing on substance use and opioid treatment.

The renovated space expands the existing treatment programs with therapy suites and related auxiliary  functions, creating a distinct area for behavioral health services. Spaces include private therapy suites, a group gathering room, an open office, managerial offices, and respite areas for staff.
The reception area was expanded into a key decision point, where staff can direct patients either to therapy or primary treatment areas. Crucial to support therapy, the spaces afford ample daylight without disrupting staff privacy or security. Pathways are clear and intuitive, framing views to the exterior.
Our team continually worked within a necessarily frugal budget while maintaining architectural integrity.  We selected a warm color palette to harmonize with the prairie-style building’s exterior aesthetic, echoed exterior period elements such as interior corner glass, and re-used existing doors, stud walls, and structural elements. We also rearranged some rooms to minimize areas of demolition.  This project was completed on time and substantially under budget as a result of these combined efforts.
