After more than two years of construction and fundraising, a brand-new apartment building and entrepreneurial space designed with artists in mind has opened in Grand Rapids, called The Emory Arts & Culture Hub.

“We are thrilled to open the doors of The Emory and welcome the community into a space designed for creativity, connection, and opportunity,” said Javier Cervantes, executive director of The Diatribe, in a statement.

The Emory Arts & Culture Hub is a new community center owned and operated by The Diatribe, a local artist collective and youth programming organization. At The Emory, eight apartment units have been constructed at varying prices, and four retail spaces are available for burgeoning artists and businesses.

Along with apartments and storefronts, The Emory also offers an event venue and rooms for youth programming in Grand Rapids’ Burton Heights neighborhood.

“This project is a reflection of years of vision, collaboration, and belief in the power of the arts to transform lives,” Cervantes said, in a statement.

An opening ceremony for The Emory Arts & Culture Hub at 2040 Division Avenue South was held on April 30. For more information, visit The Diatribe’s website.
